Action: Don't let short-term insurance derail the ACA

In a major part of his plan to sabotage Obamacare, President Trump has allowed individuals to stay on poorly regulated “short-term” insurance plans indefinitely. This has the potential to destabilize Obamacare markets. As we rally against Trump’s orders on a national level, let us also look to fill in the gap with state-level regulations. Call your state legislators, and demand they limit short-term insurance to ninety days!

Example script:
“Hello, my name is [name] from [city, zip], and I’m calling about Trump’s recent executive order allowing people to stay on short-term insurance plans indefinitely. This order represents a deliberate attempt to sabotage Obamacare by destabilizing insurance markets. Please pass a regulation on the state level limiting participation in short-term plans to 90 days.”

Background:

Within Obamacare, you can spend three months on a less regulated insurance plan intended to serve as a stop-gap while you find a long-term plan. Trump’s executive order allows people allows people to stay on these long term plans indefinitely. This has the potential to draw healthy people away from proper insurance plans and destabilize the market.
