Block Preemptive Nuclear Strikes and Get Out the Vote

Don’t forget to fill out our call log so that we can track our impact:

Action 1: Get Out the Vote

They say to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. Please fill out and return your own ballots! Then help remind others by joining our local #chalkthevote campaign: grab a piece of chalk and write “Vote,” “Vote today,” or “Vote by November 7” on the nearest sidewalk. Then post a picture to social media with the hashtag #chalkthevote!

Action 2: Require congressional approval for preemptive nuclear strikes

Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) plan to introduce a bill to bar President Trump from launching a preemptive strike on North Korea without congressional consent. Ask your Senators to join them in putting a safety on Trump's nuclear gun.

Sen. Patty Murray: DC 202-224-2621; Seattle 206-553-5545

Sen. Maria Cantwell: DC 202-224-3441; Seattle 206-220-6400

SCRIPT: “Hi, my name is [NAME], from [CITY]. Senators Chris Murphy, Brian Schatz, and Cory Booker are planning to introduce a bill to require congressional action before President Trump can launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike. As you know, President Trump has been making nuclear threats against North Korea, and he is too unstable to have unchecked power to follow through on them. Please join Senators Murphy, Schatz and Booker as co-sponsors of this bill.”

Upcoming Event

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal is hosting a Seattle town hall focused how we can resist Donald Trump's plans for tax giveaways to the wealthy. The president is trying to fast track his tax plan that would give the top 0.2 percent more than $270 billion in tax cuts while raising the tax rate for middle class and low-income families.

This plan would have devastating impacts in Washington's 7th District and across the country - and we must defeat it.
