Demand pushback on Trump's "one-two punch" attack on birth control, LGBT rights

ACTION: Protect women's reproductive rights and non-discrimination policies for LBGT people in the workplace.

Last week, under the guise of promoting "religious liberty," President Trump issued orders to allow employers to eliminate some types of birth control from their workers' health insurance.  Striving to retain loyalty from social conservatives, the Trump Administration also dealt a blow to LGBT workplace rights in a directive that allows employers to hire employees based on their religious beliefs and an employer-mandated "code of conduct."

  • Rep. Pramila Jayapal: 206-674-0040
  • Sen. Patty Murray: 202-224-2621/ 206-553-5545
  • Sen. Maria Cantwell: 202-224-3441/ 206-220-6400

My name is [NAME] and I’m calling from [ZIP]. I am calling to express my outrage at the two directives issued by the Trump Administration last week.  I'm asking you to support no-cost birth control as mandated under the ACA, and to prevent workplace descrimation against LGBT workers.  Please fight to protect these two issues from assault by the Trump Administration in the name of "religious liberty."

Don't forget

Today is Indigenous People's Day.  Estimates for the number of native Americans (American Indians) who died as a consequence of European settlement run from 1/3 to 1/2 of the entire population - men, women, and children - due to disease, elimination or reduction of tribal lands, and attempts at assimilation.  Today's populations of native Americans are still suffering the poverty and discrimination of a brutally marginalized people.  Stand with them today.  Attend an event, provide a donation to an organization that supports native American people and culture, or simply take a few minutes to look around our beautiful Pacific Northwest environment and extend a feeling of gratefulness and recognition to those pre-European communities who came before.

Nonprofit organizations that support native Americans include: Native American Rights Fund -; American Indians Health Commission for Washington State -; American Indian College Fund -
