No Backdoor ACA Repeal!

OFFICIAL DAILY ACTION FOR Thursday, November 2nd:

Don’t forget to fill out our call log so that we can track our impact:

Sometime today we are supposed to see the legislative text of Trump's and the Republicans’ tax abuse proposal. Earlier this week Republican Senator Tom Cotton gave an early insight into one particularly insidious potential element of it. With Trump tweeting in support, Cotton announced plans to insert into the Senate version language repealing the individual mandate provision of the Affordable Care Act.

Repeal of the mandate would, of course, radically destabilize the ACA. We already knew the tax plan would be a bonanza for corporations and the wealthy. Cotton’s proposal--along with the Republican budget proviso cutting roughly one trillion dollars from Medicaid to pay for the tax giveaways--makes it clear that the tax plan is also a backdoor version of TrumpCare. Remind our Senators to call out any effort to use the tax bill to sabotage the ACA.
