Tell the USDA to protect humane farming

Official action for Tuesday, Dec. 26

The USDA has announced its intention to end regulations requiring the humane treatment of animals for foodstuffs that receive an organic label. By allowing farms to use this lucrative label regardless of their raising practices, this decision threatens to remove incentives for humane farming and make it more difficult for those who do raise animals humanely to compete with factory farms.

Commenting is open until Jan. 17, so let’s tell the USDA to keep humane treatment in organic farming!
