ACTION: Get Cantwell's Bipartisan Wildfire Disaster Funding Act of 2017 into the budget

Don’t forget to fill out our call log so that we can track our impact:

The Tax Scam Bill would eliminate the deduction for personal losses from wildfires, earthquakes and other natural disasters, but keep the break for victims of the recent severe hurricanes.  This bill came between two giant fires in California, and after one of the worst wildfire seasons on record. Americans help each other in times of crisis, regardless of politics. Trump and the Republicans don't see it that way.

This is also a wedge issue for Western Republicans, whose consitituents need wildfire relief too. It might help peel off a few votes on the Tax Bill.

Hello! My name is [NAME] and I’m calling from [ZIP]. Earlier this year, Senator Cantwell and a bi-partisan group of Senators introduced the Wildfire Disaster Funding Act of 2017. In light of the terrible fire burning in California right now, and the provision in the Tax Bill to elimiate the deduction for personal losses due to wildfires, it's time to start pushing this issue again. Can I count on the [Senator/Representative] to insist on 1) Keeping the disaster deduction for all Americans 2) Sensible funding for Wildfire relief and prevention, similar to that in Cantwell's bill?

I also wanted to let you know that I am disappointed that the Senator voted for the 2-week continuing budget resolution. I want her to fight as hard as she can for a clean DREAM act, and use the budget as leverage.
