Save the Supreme Court

Action 1: Save the Supreme Court

This week is a Gorsuch marathon - we are asking you to call our Senators every day this week with a different reason why they should filibuster his Supreme Court appointment. Today’s reason: Women's rights!

Please log your call here: you're finished to let us know what our MoCs had to say.

Senator Patty Murray

  • DC - 202-224-2621
  • Seattle - 206-553-5545

Senator Maria Cantwell

  • DC - 202-224-3441
  • Seattle - 206-220-6400

"Hi, my name is {NAME}, and I'm calling from {CITY, ZIP}. I would like the Senator to commit to filibuster Neil Gorsuch's appointment to the Supreme Court.  A person with such a terrible record on women's rights does not belong on the Supreme Court."

Neil Gorsuch's hearings are happening as we speak, and the votes to confirm him are just around the corner. Senate Democrats are shaky at best in their opposition to him, so they need as much input as possible from their constituents. Gorsuch was a judge in the notorious Hobby Lobby case that allowed the business to deny employees contraception coverage otherwise guaranteed by the ACA. His history shows that he is "hostile to women's health care and willing to give broad leeway to institutions that want to discriminate against women." This Slate article goes into more details about Gorsuch's record on women:

Action 2: Ask Friends to Help

Now that you've called your Senators, ask your friends and family to do the same! Think of two people you know (in WA or elsewhere) who care about women's rights, and email them the script and explanation above to help them ask their Senators to oppose Gorsuch.
