Action 1: Save the Supreme Court

Sen. Cantwell is expected to announce her position on Gorsuch’s Supreme Court nomination soon.  There are many reasons to oppose Gorsuch. The links below illustrate a few ways Gorsuch could shape Americans’ lives for decades.

Beyond Gorsuch’s positions, the political maneuvering by the GOP is intolerable. Rewarding Republican obstructionism with a conservative Supreme Court nominee weakens the Supreme Court’s legitimacy and exacerbates partisanism in Washington.

Senator Maria Cantwell:
    DC - 202-224-3441
    Seattle - 206-220-6400

Sample Script:

"Hi, my name is {NAME}, and I'm calling from {CITY, ZIP}. I would like the Senator to commit to filibuster Neil Gorsuch's appointment to the Supreme Court. {Insert your reason here!}"

Action 2: Save the EPA

This week has been abysmal for our environment, and tomorrow it comes under assault again. The Science Advisory Board Reform Act (H.R. 1431) creates opportunities for industries in opposition to the EPA’s mission to impede science advising. It also creates disincentives for qualified scientists to participate on the Advisory Board. Please call our Representatives to ensure they will vote in opposition to the H.R. 1431.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal:
   DC - 202-225-3106
   Seattle - 206-674-0040

Rep. Adam Smith:
   DC - 202-225-8901

Sample Script:

"Hi, my name is {NAME}, and I'm calling from {CITY, ZIP}. The EPA relies on qualified scientists to make informed recommendations. H.R. 1431 gives weight to non-scientific voices and hinders scientists’ ability to participate on the Board. Will the Representative be voting “No” on H.R. 1431 the Scientific Advisory Board Reform Bill?

Action 3: Help Turn Georgia Blue

Jon Ossoff is gaining ground in Georgia’s Special Election for the House of Representatives seat vacated by Tom Price. While typically this district is “safely Republican”, Ossoff has made this race competitive again and we’re just 19 days away from (Special) Election Day.

We are urging Seattle Indivisible members to support the Ossoff campaign. Some options are phone banking, donating or sending postcards.  Please visit Ossoff’s campaign site below to learn more.
