"Hi, my name is [NAME], and I'm calling from [PLACE, ZIP]. Please oppose the Regulatory Accountability Act (S.951), and filibuster it if it comes to the floor."

Much of what the government does for you is accomplished through regulations. These are the protections that the government puts in place, authorized by laws that Congress has passed, that allow government agencies to protect you. This is what keeps your water and air clean. This is what keeps your food safe. This is what keeps banks and financial advisors from ripping you off. The Republicans, of course, hate them, and want to push through an innocent-sounding bill that would make the already difficult process of putting a regulation into effect much harder. This bill has already passed the House, and, worst of all, in addition to its Republican Senate sponsors, this bill has two Democratic cosponsors Senators Manchin (D-WV) and Heitkamp (D-ND), who are in difficult reelection races next year, so we have less margin for error.

Do you know anybody in West Virginia or North Dakota? Pass them this script, and make sure their senators know that this is not what their voters want.

Your Voice Has an Impact:

All regulations go through a public comment period after they are proposed. Remember the proposed delisting of Bears Ears National Monument we wrote about a few days ago? Over 50,000 people have responded as of last week, with over 99% in favor of preserving these our lands.
