Trump shouldn't pick who investigates Trump

What is he hiding?

Yesterday, Trump fired FBI director James Comey. Many of us have no love for Comey, but don't believe for a second that the reason he was fired was for mishandling the Clinton inquiry, as the Trump administration has insisted.

Comey was supervising an investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia before he was fired. Now Trump will hand-pick his replacement.

Trump should not get to pick who investigates Trump! An independent investigation has never been more crucial. Let’s act together to ensure we get one.

Action 1: Call your representatives

In response to Comey’s firing, representatives on both sides of the aisle are taking action. Rep. Amash of MI, a far-right Republican, has indicated that he is considering house legislation to establish an independent commission. A senate bill demanding an independent investigation has been floating around for months. Tell your reps that you want an independent investigation NOW!

Script:

“My name is [name], and I’m calling from [city, zip] because the firing of FBI director James Comey is unacceptable. I am calling to ask that [MoC] push for the appointment of an independent special prosecutor to investigate Trump’s ties to Russia, and support any legislation that would establish an independent investigation.”

Action 2: Call the Justice Department

U.S. Department of Justice
DC: 202-353-1555

Script:

“My name is [name], and I’m calling from [city, zip] to ask that Mr. Rosenstein appoint a special independent prosecutor to investigate Trump’s ties to Russia. Trump’s pattern of firing those who investigate him proves that an independent investigation is absolutely necessary.”

Action 3: Tell your friends

To make something happen, we need outrage to roar in every representative’s ear. Please copy and paste to share this action on facebook, email it to your friends (especially those in red states), and do whatever you can think of to get people to demand an independent investigation. We’ve proven time and again that we can get things done when we all move together – so let’s get to the truth!
