Repeal AUMF

Action 1: Repeal Authorization for Use of Military Force

An amendment to the annual defense appropriations bill, proposed by Democrat Barbara Lee, would repeal the “Authorization for Use of Military Force” measure that has given the president sweeping military powers since 2001. Rep. Lee has been trying to repeal the authorization for years, but this time it has bipartisan support, and has already passed a GOP-controlled committee with only one “no” vote. It goes without saying that the fewer military powers Trump has, the better. Call your House Representative and ask them to support Rep. Lee’s amendment!

“My name is [Name] and I’m calling from [zip]. I am pleased to see that there is some bipartisan support for Rep. Lee’s amendment to repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force, and as it goes through procedure and comes to the floor, I would like for [MoC] to do everything [she/he] can to help this amendment pass.”

Action 2: Use your Democracy Vouchers!

If you are a Seattle resident, then you should have already received four democracy vouchers worth $25 each, which you can give to the city council candidate of your choice just like a campaign donation. If you have questions about vouchers, or have just been procrastinating using them, then have we got an event for you!

Seattle Taking Action, a fellow indivisible group, is holding “Vouch for Yourself” on July 16th at The Pine Box – an event where you can meet the candidates running for Seattle City Council Position 8 and give your Democracy Vouchers to your favorite(s).

Action 3: Help Us Reach 1,000 Constituent Amendments!

Trumpcare isn’t dead yet and at some point soon our Democratic Senators may need to pull out all the stops. One thing that they can do is filibuster by amendment, meaning they could delay a vote by proposing endless amendments to the bill. But this only works if they have endless amendments to propose!

With this in mind, we at Seattle Indivisible want to generate a minimum of 1,000 amendments for our Senators by July 10. Help us get there!

Go to, submit your amendment, and then send the pdf to with the subject line “Amendment”. And feel free to do more than one!
