Biweekly meeting:

Seattle Indivisible is meeting Tues. 8/15 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Garfield Community Center! This biweekly meeting consolidates the All Hands meeting and separate group volunteer meetings into one meeting. We will briefly welcome new volunteers and make announcements and then break into work groups and dive immediately into planning actions.

From now on, this biweekly meeting will be Seattle Indivisible’s most important in-person meeting, so don’t miss it!

ACTION: Demand funding to fight white nationalism

Please log your call here: https://goo.gl/forms/lbHUvI9h58f0dLqx1

As the events in Charlottesville this weekend should remind us, violent white nationalism is a threat to the lives of Americans everywhere. Yet Trump has changed the mission of the federal Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) program to focus on the acts of Muslims. He has also reduced its funding and proposes to eliminate funding by fiscal year 2018. Call your members of congress, and demand that the CVE program continue to be a force against neo-Nazi terrorism.

Senator Patty Murray:
DC - 202-224-2621
Seattle - 206-553-5545

Senator Maria Cantwell:
DC - 202-224-3441
Seattle - 206-220-6400

Rep. Pramila Jayapal:
DC - 202-225-3106
Seattle - 206-674-0040

Rep. Adam Smith:
DC - 202-225-8901
Renton - 425-793-5180

Script:
“My name is [name], and I’m calling from [city, zip]. I’m asking [member of congress’s name] to require that the Countering Violent Extremism program retains its focus on white nationalism, that CVE grants are fully funded, and that a substantial portion of CVE grants are awarded to respond to the threat of white nationalism.”
