Action

Thank Senator Cantwell for her letter requesting a DOJ Task Force on Hate Crimes, and ask Senator Murray to sign on.

Senator Cantwell and 11 other Senators have written a letter to Attorney General Sessions calling for a U.S. Department of Justice interagency task force to combat hate-based incidents and violence. A similar letter to President Trump has gone unanswered since April. Thank her for pushing this effort uphill in an unfriendly administration, and ask Senator Murray to sign on to the letter as well.

Script for Senator Cantwell:

“My name is [name], and I’m calling from [city, zip]. I am calling to thank Senator Cantwell for her letter to Attorney General Sessions calling for a U.S. Department of Justice interagency task force to combat hate-based incidents and violence. In the wake of this weekend's mayhem in Charlottesville, I am very concerned about the rise of hate crimes and white supremacy in the United States. I agree with Senator Cantwell that the administration has failed to take meaningful action, instead decreasing funding to fight white extremism. Please keep pushing on this issue.
