Yesterday, we called our Senators to ask that they protect transgender military service members from Trump’s hateful whims. But today, he signed the directive banning transgender people from entering military service, and put existing service members at risk of being fired - at Secretary Mattis’ discretion. This is a shameful backslide into institutionalized discrimination. Here are two more ways we can stand up for transgender people serving our country:
1. Call the Pentagon’s comment line:

SCRIPT: “My name is [NAME]. As an American citizen, I ask that you do not implement Trump’s discriminatory and unconstitutional transgender ban. The armed forces once paved the way for desegregation in the 1940's, and should fight against discrimination now. The American people have your back on everything you can do to protect transgender individuals who are serving our country.”
2. Support LGBT organizations suing over the ban.
The National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and the GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) have already filed a lawsuit on behalf of five transgender service members for, violations of equal protection and due process. You can support these organizations with a small donation, so that they can pursue these and other lawsuits:
