Resist Trump Tuesday Rally
Noon, Henry M. Jackson Federal Building
This week's Resist Trump Tuesday Rally will be hosted by Tae Phoenix! The topic will be a discussion about intersectionality. Following the rally, we will be going inside the Federal Building for our meeting with Senate staffers.

The Affordable Care Act is again in danger, and some of the key ‘no’ votes from last time are wavering. Every vote matters, so let’s focus all of today’s calls on flipping a single senator on the fence: Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
First priority: Senator Murkowski herself. Call her office, and get your Alaskan friends and family to call her. For Seattle residents, we want to focus specifically on the many Alaskans that come to Seattle for medical treatment (the University of Washington is the center of a five-state medical alliance that includes Alaska) and the impact that ACA repeal will have on these patients.
Example script (Alaskan):
“Hello, my name is [name], and I’m calling from [city, zip]. Senator Murkowski has said that she would not support the coming Graham-Cassidy bill unless the numbers showed it was good for Alaskans. This bill does not currently have a CBO score, and slashing Medicaid funding will never be good for Alaskans. Senator Murkowski should not support this bill.”
Example script (Seattle resident):
“Hello, my name is [name], and I’m calling from [city, zip]. Though I'm a Washington state resident, I know that our state provides healthcare services to many Alaskans. I'm concerned that the Graham-Cassidy bill will hinder our region's ability to serve those most in need, and I believe that Senator Murkowski should vote ‘no’ on this bill.”
Secondly, call Washington senators and encourage them to talk to Murkowski about defending the ACA.
Senator Patty Murray:
DC - 202-224-2621 Seattle - 206-553-5545
Senator Maria Cantwell:
DC - 202-224-3441 Seattle - 206-220-6400
“Hello, my name is [name], and I’m calling from [city, zip]. Today I’m thinking about Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who is currently undecided on the coming Graham-Cassidy vote. It might be worth reaching out to her about how many Alaskans are treated in Washington hospitals and how ACA repeal would adversely affect her constituents.”
Senator Murkowski has voted ‘no’ on past Trumpcare proposals, but she has said she is undecided about the current Graham-Cassidy bill. One Republican senator called her a bellwether for the coming vote [Politico].
