Pass the DREAM Act, already

If you or your family are personally impacted by the cancellation of DACA, the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project is holding free community forums to answer your questions and provide information about resources, starting next week. See this link for details:

Don’t forget to fill out our call log so that we can track our impact:

That didn't take very long. There's already chatter of Trump and the Republicans, having just started the on the deportation of 800,000 DACA recipients who were willing to trust the government, trying to turn them into a bargaining chip. Not acceptable. People are not bargaining chips.

Action: Demand passage of the DREAM Act, with no riders

Call both Senators:

  • Patty Murray: (202)224-2621 or (206)553-5545
  • Maria Cantwell: (202)224-3441 or (206)220-6400 or

Call your Representative:

  • Pramila Jayapal (WA-07): (202)225-3106 or (206)674-0040
  • Adam Smith (WA-09): (202)225-8901 or (425)793-5180

Sample Script:

"Hi - My name is [NAME] and I'm calling from [CITY, ZIP] to ask Senator [MOC NAME] to co-sponsor and accept only the bipartisan 'DREAM Act' (S. 1615/H.R.3440) as a solution to the president's cancellation of DACA. DACA recipients are not a bargaining chip, and I don't want to see any wall funding or increased enforcement funding as part of this bill."

The DREAM Act now has three Republican sponsors in the Senate, so it could pass with a simple majority if it were ever brought up for a vote. We need to be clear that this is must-pass legislation, and that this is the version of the bill we should pass. Some of the other solutions that have been brought up have compromises that are unacceptable.
