Stop Overreach of Immigration Enforcement

There’s a lot to pay attention to in the federal government, but it’s important to recognize that we have problems that need fixing right here in WA state. A case in point: the Seattle Times recently revealed that the Department of Licensing has been sharing driver’s license applications and photos with ICE 20-30 times a month. ICE has, in turn, used this information to deport people.

Gov. Inslee has directed the DOL to stop sharing information, but that’s not enough – we need legislation in the books to officially stop people from getting deported for wanting to drive legally. Thankfully, State Senator Saldana has introduced SB 5689, the Keep Washington Working Act, which addresses this and other potential instances of overreach in immigration enforcement.
