The Senate returns to session today with a crowded and urgent agenda. The Continuing Resolution that keeps the government funded expires January 19th, and it offers what may be the last best chance to protect the 800,000 Dreamers – young people brought to the US as children - left in limbo when Congress passed its last short-term budget resolution without the Dream Act attached on December 21.  Because we called them day after day, our Senators finally did the right thing by voting “no” that time.  Thank them, and ask them to keep their status as “Dream Heroines” who insist on including the Dream Act (with no border wall) as part of every spending bill until the Dream Act passes. Tell them a vote on a continuing resolution without the Dream Act is a vote to deport Dreamers—no clean Dream, no CR.

Action:  Tell Senators to keep fighting for a clean Dream Act

Sen. Patty Murray: DC 202-224-2621; Seattle 206-553-5545

Sen. Maria Cantwell: DC 202-224-3441; Seattle 206-220-6400

Sample Script

“Hello! My name is [NAME] and I’m calling from [ZIP]. I’m calling to thank Senator [NAME] for voting against the CR that didn’t include the Dream Act last December 21st. Dreamers deserve MoCs who will stand with them and use their power to protect them from the Trump deportation machine, and I am proud that Senator used her power to do so. Please tell her that I expect her to continue voting at every opportunity to stand with Dreamers in 2018. Senator [NAME] should continue to demand that the Dream Act be attached to all spending bills as a condition for her vote.”
