Don’t Let Trump Give Away Your Data

Official Action for Tuesday, March 20

We have our regular Resist Trump Tuesday rally and weekly meeting today. You can find more details at the end of this message. We hope to see you there!

Don’t forget to fill out our call log so that we can track our impact:

The ACLU, the EFF, and other civil liberties groups are raising a red flag about the CLOUD Act, a bill that currently enjoys bipartisan support. This bill would allow the executive branch to give data stored on American servers to foreign governments--without any judicial oversight. This means that if foreign governments want to spy on activists within their borders, they can more easily do so using data that Facebook stores in America. These governments can then share what they found--without a warrant--with the FBI. The CLOUD Act is a threat to human rights globally, and we must fight it!

Rep. Pramila Jayapal: (202) 225-3106, (206) 674-0040
Rep. Adam Smith: (202) 225-8901, (425) 793-5180
Sen. Patty Murray: (202) 224-2621, (206) 553-5545
Sen. Maria Cantwell: (202) 224-3441, (206) 220-6400

Sample Script:
“Hello I’m [name] from [city, zip code], and I’m calling about the CLOUD Act. Now more than ever, we cannot allow our executive branch to share private data with foreign governments unsupervised. [Senator/Representative name] must oppose the CLOUD Act, and must oppose the omnibus bill if the CLOUD Act becomes attached to it.”

At this week's Tuesday rally we are honored to host a true civil rights legend, featured speaker Charlie James. Enter from the parking lot in BACK of the church. We’re in the first room on your left.

NOTE: Beginning March 27, we will move our weekly Tues. meetings to the Washington State Labor Council (321 16th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144)! This location can be reached on King County Metro routes 5 and 45.
