On Friday night, Trump once again ordered an unauthorized, reckless, and unconstitutional air strike in Syria in response to the Syrian president's reported use of chemical weapons.
While Assad's actions were abhorrent, Trump has put our troops and Syrian civilians in danger with no plan, no war authorization, and no actual care for the fate of ordinary Syrians. Shamefully, the U.S. has only accepted eleven Syrian civil war refugees this year.
Our Senators have expressed skepticism but have not actually condemned the use of force on the merits. Tell them to say no, and then thank Rep. Jayapal and Rep. Smith for speaking out more strongly against the war drums.
SCRIPT [for Cantwell and Murray]: Hello, my name is [NAME] and I am calling from [CITY]. Trump's military strike in Syria is not just reckless and unconstitutional, it is wrong on the merits. It only escalates the conflict and the harm to civilians. Please vote against any war authorization and call instead for diplomacy and for accepting more Syrian refugees.
Sen. Patty Murray: DC 202-224-2621; Seattle 206-553-5545
Sen. Maria Cantwell: DC 202-224-3441; Seattle 206-220-6400
SCRIPT [for Jayapal and Smith]: Hello, my name is [NAME] and I am calling from [CITY]. Please thank the Representative for speaking up strongly against Trump's military strike in Syria. We need to stop bombing indiscriminately, use more diplomacy, and accept more refugees. Please vote against any war authorization.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal: DC - 202-225-3106; Seattle - 206-674-0040
Rep. Adam Smith: DC - 202-225-8901; Renton - 425-793-5180
