Let's Thank the King County Council

Our Resist Trump Tuesday rally takes place Tuesday morning with special guest speaker Summer Stinson. Our Weekly Meeting will occur Tuesday evening. Scroll down to Events for all of the details.

On Monday, the King County Council voted 7-2 to approve making postage for ballots prepaid, which means that if you live in King County, starting in August you will be able to put your ballot directly into the mailbox without having to scrounge up a stamp. This is one less reason to not vote, and it removes a meaningful barrier from participation in our government.

Today's Action: Thank the King County Council for making it easier for us to vote

Step 1: Find your Councilmember's Phone Number

Visit https://www5.kingcounty.gov/kcgisreports/KCClookup.aspx and type in your street address (e.g. you might enter "517 15th Ave E")

Call the number listed on that web page.

Step 2: Call your Council Member

Here's a sample script with an example of what you can say:

"Hi, my name is {NAME} and I live in {CITY, ZIP}. I want to thank Council Member {THEIR NAME} for voting to pay for postage on ballots. I support their efforts to make elections in King County more equitable and fair, and I hope they continue to fight for a more just electoral system."

Caveat: Council Members Reagan Dunn and Kathy Lambert voted *AGAINST* this proposal. If you live in their districts, please feel free to call them to say that you're deeply disappointed by their actions.
