Keep fighting for Immigrants on UN Day of the Refugee

Today is the United Nations Day of the Refugee. On this day, while children are locked in cages at our southern border, and a recording of their sobs circulates on social media, the Trump Administration has withdrawn the United States from the UN Commission on Human Rights.

Our elected officials have been working hard to fight for the kids that the Trump administration is abusing. Our Governor, Attorney General, Federal and State Senators and Representatives have been at the forefront of this fight. Senator Murray gave an impassioned speech that directly called out Trump for lying, for the horrific treatment of children, and for using children for negotiation leverage or deterrence. She called on him to stop separating children now, as he has the power do any time he chooses. Representative Jayapal has called for a nationwide protest on June 30. Let's thank them, and let them know we want them to keep at it!

Action 1

Sign the UN #WithRefugees petition for UN Day of the Refugee to help show that the global public, and the American people, stand with refugees. http://www.un.org/en/events/refugeeday/

Action 2

The Office of the Washington State Attorney General is requesting information from Washington residents regarding the impacts that they are experiencing – or expect to experience – as a result of the Trump Administration’s family separation policy. If you are impacted or know someone in Washington who is, please call the AG's office
at 1-844-323-3864 and let them know.

Action 3

Thank our elected officials for fighting hard to stop the horror being done in our names, and ask them to keep fighting.

SCRIPT for Murray

Hi, my name is [NAME], and I'm calling from [CITY, ZIP]. I'm calling today to thank Senator Murray for speaking up for immigrant children yesterday, and for not mincing words in calling on President Trump to end his terrible policy of pulling children from their families at our borders. I am horrified at what is being done in our name. I want to urge Senator Murray to keep the pressure on President Trump to end this policy now, not try to use it to force cuts to immigration through Congress.

SCRIPT for Jayapal

Hi, my name is [NAME], and I'm calling from [CITY, ZIP]. I'm calling today to thank Rep. Jayapal for leading the effort to keep immigrant families together, and for calling for nationwide protests on June 30. I plan to be there! I also want to urge her to keep the pressure on President Trump to end this policy now, not try to use it to force cuts to immigration through Congress.

SCRIPT for Cantwell and Smith

Hi, my name is [NAME], and I'm calling from [CITY, ZIP]. I'm calling today to thank [Senator/Representative] for working to keep immigrant families together. I am horrified at what is being done in our name. I want to urge [Senator/Representative] to keep the pressure on President Trump to end this policy now, not try to use it to force cuts to immigration through Congress.
