In yet another cruel and dehumanizing action, President Trump tweeted on Sunday, June 24th, that asylum-seekers should be sent back immediately without a fair hearing or due process. Even though Trump signed an executive order on Friday to end the family-separation policy, his harsh and vindictive actions are wreaking havoc on immigrants' lives.
We must do better.
We refuse to continue to be a country that tortures families and children, no matter their immigration status. We will no longer condone lying to human beings about the whereabouts and disposition of their children and families. We are a democratic republic, founded on the immigration of people from across the globe. We are a country that should champion values of liberty and human rights, not a country that strips people of their loved ones and threatens their security. We absolutely must do better.
Please call your MOCs today and tell them we stand with them in defending the due process of immigrants coming to this country.
