Keep White Supremacists Out of Government

The Trump administration has nominated Ronald Mortensen, a fellow with the anti-immigrant hate group Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), to serve as Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. CIS was founded by a white nationalist in 1993 and has worked to spread white supremacist ideology ever since. Mortensen has repeatedly espoused the lie that immigrants are criminals, even referring to immigrant populations in sanctuary cities as “illegal alien murderers, identity thieves, gang bangers, and other assorted thugs.”

The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration’s purpose is to aid refugees and victims of conflict escaping persecution. Mortensen’s extremist views are directly at odds with the Bureau’s purpose, and his appointment would endanger the lives of hundreds of people seeking relief from violence and oppression in their home countries.

Action: Ask Senators to Reject Mortensen’s Nomination

Sen. Patty Murray:--DC 202-224-2621; Seattle 206-553-5545
Sen. Maria Cantwell--DC 202-224-3441; Seattle 206-220-6400

Hi, my name is [NAME], and I'm calling from [CITY, ZIP]. I'm calling today to ask [Senator/Representative] to oppose Ronald Mortensen’s nomination to Assistant Secretary of State for Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. Mortensen is a part of an anti-immigrant hate group – he should not be in charge of a bureau intended to aid refugees and immigrants in need.”

Good News: CA Primary Results are in!

By the skin of our teeth, we got Democrats through the primaries in California’s 39th, 48th, and 49th districts where progressives were worried that we might be blocked out of the midterms. The races were extremely close – so thank you if you helped out by phonebanking or textbanking!
