Fight Family Separation in Seatac – Protest TODAY

**FYI: Please do not attend the counterprotest outside of Planned Parenthood today, per their request:

We have all been outraged at Trump’s new policy of separating parents from their children at the southern border. Now this human rights violation has come home to Washington: the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project says that due to the new separation policy increasing the demand for detention beds, over 100 women seeking asylum are now being held at the SeaTac federal prison while their children are sent elsewhere.

The Federal government is acting unilaterally, but we still have the power to draw the world’s attention to this cruelty. Please join us at the #WhereAreTheParents solidarity protest, 1:30 pm outside the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac (2425 S 200th St, Seattle):

If you can’t make it or have a prior commitment, here is another action you can take from home. Thank Governor Jay Inslee and Attorney General Bob Ferguson for the stern letter they sent to the prison and to ICE this week demanding answers. Here is a quote in part:

“We have serious concerns about the Trump Administration's treatment of these asylum seekers who are now here in Washington. As the chief executive and chief law enforcement officers for the State, we ask that you immediately share with us information about these asylum-seekers, including: Where are their children and who is caring for them? Why are these women being held in prison while their asylum claims are resolved?”

Send them an email thanking them for this letter, and ask them to explore all available options to reunite these women with their families:
