#MeToo in the Supreme Court

Official Daily Action for Wednesday, September 19

There are many reasons to oppose Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court, and over the weekend an even more powerful reason came to light. We've known from Brett Kavanaugh's judicial record that he had no respect for bodily autonomy. We've known from contradictory statements he's made to congress that he's not honest.

Now, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford tells an awful and credible story about a night in high school when the current nominee to the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh, and another boy, pulled her into a bedroom, locked the door, turned the music up loud, and tried to rape her. She got away because they were drunk and all three fell off the bed. Dr. Ford has talked about this incident with friends and a therapist for years. She passed a polygraph test last week. She knows that coming forward may ruin her life, and she's doing it anyway, because her country needs to know the character the people sitting on its highest court.

Please stand with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

Sample Script:

“Hello, I’m [name] from [city, zip]. I'm calling to ask the Senator to keep fighting the Kavanaugh nomination with everything she has. In particular, in light of the sexual assault allegations against the nominee, I want the Senator to insist that:

(pick one or more)

  1. There is a full FBI investigation of the allegations, as was requested by Dr. Ford. No hearing can be scheduled until the investigation is complete.

  2. The other boy who was involved in the assault, Mark Judge, must testify. If he won't do so voluntarily, then subpoena him.

  3. No questions will be allowed of Dr. Ford about what she was wearing, how much she had to drink, or her sexual history. However, those questions must be asked of Mr. Kavanaugh and Mr. Judge.

Please thank the Senator for everything she's done so far, and ask her to keep fighting for us."
