Call our Senators about new Kavanaugh allegations

New, distressing allegations about Brett Kavanaugh's behavior as an appeals court judge have emerged over the past two days. On Thursday, The Guardian reported:

"Amy Chua, a Yale professor who wrote a bestselling book on parenting called Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, was known for instructing female law students who were preparing for interviews with Kavanaugh on ways they could dress to exude a 'model-like' femininity to help them win a post in Kavanaugh’s chambers, according to sources."

NBC News reported Thursday evening that the Dean of Yale Law School is now investigating "faculty misconduct" in conjunction with Kavanaugh's alleged behavior.

The idea that any judge on one of the most important courts in the United States could be engaged in this sort of misconduct is distressing, but it is made much worse by the accusations of sexual assault leveled against the Supreme Court nominee. It is clear that Brett Kavanaugh has no place on the Supreme Court, but there are also serious questions about whether he has a place in the Federal judiciary at all.

ACTION 1: Call our Senators

Sample Script:

"Hi, my name is {NAME} and I'm calling from {CITY, ZIP}. I read disturbing new allegations yesterday that Brett Kavanaugh as an appeals court judge has been selecting clerks in part based on their looks. I think that the Senate Judiciary Committee needs to investigate these allegations to determine if Kavanaugh should be a judge at all."

ACTION 2 (District 7 only): Call Pramila Jayapal

If you're a resident of the 7th Congressional District, please call Congresswoman Jayapal too. She sits on the House Judiciary Committee, which can just as easily open an investigation into Brett Kavanaugh's behavior.

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-7): (202) 225-3106

Sample Script:

"Hi, my name is {NAME}, and I'm calling from {CITY, ZIP}. I want to ask the Congresswoman to call for investigations into the disturbing new allegations that Brett Kavanaugh has been selecting his appeals court clerks in part based upon their looks. Also, I hope that she will call for investigations again in 2019 once the new Congress has been sworn in."

We march together. We rally together. We hurt together. And we heal together.

Next, we VOTE.

If we expect to be successful, then we must first acknowledge our failure. In the 2016 election, we failed. One way we failed is allowing Islamophobia to be weaponized against us, without even knowing that it was effectively being used to help win elections. With the Islamophobia machinery on full throttle and now even having reached the highest levels of our government, we continue to fail. With the upcoming election, it is more important than ever for us to understand and overcome Islamophobia, because it has a very real impact on us all. And we must do better if we hope to win.

Don't miss this special FREE opportunity to learn about the Islamophobia industry and how it intersects with other issues and affects us all. And gain the tools necessary for us to effectively combat Islamophobia together!
