STOP KAVANAUGH - 2 more women come forward

OFFICIAL DAILY ACTION for Monday, September 24

[Trigger warning: The background articles linked below include detailed descriptions of sexual assault.]

Two more women have come forward describing sexual misconduct by Brett Kavanaugh. One comes from Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez, and the other from a yet unnamed woman represented by Michael Avenatti (who also represents Stormy Daniels). This adds to the events described by Dr. Ford, and the reports from Yale faculty that Mr. Kavanaugh hired clerks based on their looks, to show a disturbing pattern of dangerous and inappropriate behavior towards women.

This is not a trial. It's a job interview. We have enough information to make a decision.

ACTION 1: Call our Senators

Sen. Patty Murray--DC 202-224-2621; Seattle 206-553-5545
Sen. Maria Cantwell--DC 202-224-3441; Seattle 206-220-6400

Don’t forget to fill out our call log so that we can track our impact:

Sample Script:

“Hello, I’m [name] from [city, zip]. I'm calling about the Kavanaugh nomination. Over the weekend, two more women have made allegations of sexual misconduct against Mr. Kavanaugh. Clearly, there are indications of a pattern of dangerous behavior. We need all of the witness to testify. I want to ask the Senator to keep fighting the Kavanaugh nomination with everything she has."

For PATTY MURRAY only: "I want to thank Senator Murray her appearence on Meet the Press this wekened, and her strong stance against confirmation of Mr. Kavanaugh."

ACTION 2: Walk Out for #BelieveSurvivors at 10AM

Monday at 10AM Pacific Time (1PM Eastern), from the #BelieveSurvivors National Walkout Event Page, "Join us for a national walk-out to show our support for Dr. Blasey Ford. All you need to do is wear black and walk out - of your home, your office, your classroom, wherever you are - and post a picture to your social media with the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors.

"If you can’t walk out, you can show your support by posting a video or a picture to this event. Help spread the word: we believe Dr. Blasey Ford. We believe survivors. And we won’t stand for Senate Republicans’ despicable attempts to strong-arm a sexual assault survivor."

Resist Trump Tuesday

This week Seattle Indivisible is dedicating RTT to Joe Colgan and the Downtown Peace Vigil.

Gold Star father and Army veteran Joe Colgan started what is referred to informally as "The Downtown Peace Vigil". Joe lost his son Lt. Ben Colgan, in Baghdad, Iraq, November 1, 2003. In 2006, Joe started the vigil. Every Tuesday from 11am to 1pm Joe and a group of volunteers set up in front of the Federal Building talking to people about the virtues of pacifism and the dangers of the military industrial complex. They collect postcards every week and deliver them to the offices of both Senators Murray and Cantwell. Once a month Vets4Peace joins them to show support.

Seeing Joe there every week has been inspirational as he set an example of persistence through adversity.

This coming Tuesday will be Joe's last Vigil and we're looking to honor him!

ATTN: There will be no staff meeting this week, but please show up and honor someone who really deserves it.
