Three Strikes Against Kavanaugh

OFFICIAL DAILY ACTION FOR Tuesday, September 25: Three Strikes Against Kavanaugh

[Trigger warning: some of the background articles linked below include detailed descriptions of sexual assault.]

Trump and Republican Senate leaders insist on “plowing through” the credible allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

We say, “No.” The travesty of the Kavanaugh nomination must end.

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford alleges Kavanaugh attempted to rape her. Deborah Ramirez alleges Kavanaugh forced her to touch his genitals. Another woman, as yet unnamed, represented by Michael Avenatti, also alleges that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation is not a trial, it's a job interview. We have enough information to make a decision.

Action: Call Our Senators

Sen. Patty Murray--DC 202-224-2621; Seattle 206-553-5545

Sen. Maria Cantwell--DC 202-224-3441; Seattle 206-220-6400

“Hello, I’m [name] from [city, zip]. I'm calling about the Kavanaugh nomination. Three women have made allegations of sexual misconduct against Mr. Kavanaugh. This indicates a pattern of dangerous behavior. We need all relevant witnesses to testify. I want to ask the Senator to keep fighting the Kavanaugh nomination with everything she has."

This week Seattle Indivisible is dedicating RTT to Joe Colgan and the Downtown Peace Vigil.

Gold Star father and Army veteran Joe Colgan started what is referred to informally as "The Downtown Peace Vigil". Joe lost his son Lt. Ben Colgan, in Baghdad, Iraq, November 1, 2003. In 2006, Joe started the vigil. Every Tuesday from 11am to 1pm Joe and a group of volunteers set up in front of the Federal Building talking to people about the virtues of pacifism and the dangers of the military industrial complex. They collect postcards every week and deliver them to the offices of both Senators Murray and Cantwell. Once a month Vets4Peace joins them to show support.

Seeing Joe there every week has been inspirational as he set an example of persistence through adversity.

This coming Tuesday will be Joe's last Vigil and we're looking to honor him!

ATTN: There will be no staff meeting this week, but please show up and honor someone who really deserves it.
