Kavanaugh Marathon, plus Protect Immigrant Businesses

OFFICIAL ACTION for Saturday, September 29

The Senate Judiciary Committee’s mishandling of Dr. Ford’s testimony is another reminder of how important it is to reclaim Congress from Republicans. Find opportunities to canvass and phone bank later in this message.

This week has been hard for a lot of us, but especially so for those who have experienced trauma. Please know there are resources available if you need them:

Yesterday the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to bring Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Senate floor, but only after a week-long FBI investigation. The investigation is but a small solace: the FBI is unlikely to pursue criminal charges and will simply collect more evidence to hand over to the Senate. It is still up to us to show that we will not stand Kavanaugh’s appointment to this most powerful of lifetime posts. Our message is simple: Kavanaugh’s candidacy must end.

"Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. In light of Dr. Ford’s testimony yesterday, please call for Judge Kavanaugh’s name to be withdrawn from consideration for the Supreme Court.”

Background (content warning--this article contains references to sexual assault):

Protect Immigrant Businesses

SeaTac City Council voted last Tuesday night to sell SeaTac Center to a private developer. SeaTac City Council member Peter Kwon voted to sell, and displace over 50 immigrant businesses.

Now State Representative Ryu (32nd Legislative District which includes Shoreline) wants to come to SeaTac this Monday and raise election funds with SeaTac City Councilmember Peter Kwon. Let her know she is joining with an elected leader who has voted against immigrant businesses, and voted against the community. Tell her to hold Peter Kwon accountable for his vote against his community.
