If Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will not allow a Senate vote on legislation to reopen the government, then it’s time to tell our Senators to withhold consent and filibuster everything.
The legislation that McConnell refuses to bring up for a vote is literally identical to a bill that passed the Senate unanimously last month. This bill would reopen the government at 2018's funding levels without any money for Trump's obscene wall, and provide 800,000 public servants with their much-needed paychecks. It is unacceptable to continue to deprive government employees of their income, to cut off health services for Native Americans, and to allow National Parks to be trashed without supervision, simply because Trump wants a wall.
No Senate business should occur until our government is working again.
Tell our Senators to vote against the motion to proceed on S.1, the first Senate Bill of 2019 and the new Congress, and to vow to use every tactic at their disposal to grind business to a full stop until McConnell gives in and holds a vote to reopen government.
ACTION: Tell our Senators this is worth a fight!

“Hi, my name is [NAME], calling from [CITY]. I’m calling to let Senator [Name] know that I believe that opening the government should be a top priority. If Mitch McConnell will not schedule a vote on legislation that just passed the Senate in December, then I expect Senator [Name] to withhold consent and filibuster everything until we get the vote. Please tell Senator [Name] to start by voting against the motion to proceed on S.1 on Tuesday.”
Ezra Levin, the co-executive director of Indivisible National, put out a call-to-action on Sunday night, asking for all of us to put pressure on our Senators to withhold consent. If 41 members of the Democratic caucus agree, then the Senate will grind to a halt.
