Thank our Reps!

Both Representative Jayapal and Representative Smith were unsuccessful in preventing "Emergency" DHS funding, but not due to their efforts. They both fought hard, took the difficult votes, and rejected Trump's narrative.

We thank them for their fight!

On Friday, June 28th, Congress passed legislation that will provide more funding for President Trump’s inhumane immigration machine under the guise of wanting to help prevent the child abuse going on in camps across the country. Both Senators Murray and Cantwell voted to fund President Trump’s “Zero Humanity” immigration policy along with every single House representative in the Washington State delegation except for two.

Rep. Jayapal and Rep. Smith let us know we can count on them!

The story being spun, at the time, by the President and his allies was that the conditions in the camps were the fault of the Democrats. Trump said he was deeply concerned about the children and wanted to improve conditions, yet the democrats just would not provide any funding. This narrative is of course a lie, but we understand it still took an incredible amount of courage and political will to push back against it.

Everyone reading should be proud. Your persistent calling, emailing, and rallying made a difference! You are a large part of why only our reps voted against Trump’s “Zero Humanity” policy! Thank you!

Now, please let our MoCs know you appreciate it when they hear us. We understand we won't win sometimes, but we need our MoCs to keep up the fight. Right now is exactly when they need to hear our appreciation!

ACTION: Thank our Reps for having the fight to not accept Trump’s false narrative!

Rep. Pramila Jayapal: DC - 202-225-3106 Seattle - 206-674-0040

“Hello, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I wanted to call to thank [MoC] for voting against H.R. 3401 and not giving Trump’s inhumane immigration machine a blank check. I understand how politically difficult this vote was and appreciate [MoC]’s leadership and willingness to push back against a false narrative.”

Tuesday: We Will Hold Our Senators Accountable!

Resist Trump Tuesday: Hold our Senators Accountable

11:45 a.m. outside the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building:

Senators Murray and Cantwell voted for the Senate version of the immigration funding bill last week. While the House bill had guardrails to prevent the Trump administration from using this money to imprison more people or build the wall, the Senate version did not.

We have our regular meeting with the Senate staffers on Tuesday. Let's make sure they know that this vote is completely unacceptable.
