Stop Trump from Jailing Kids Indefinitely

The Trump administration plans to announce a new policy this Friday that would allow them to detain migrant families indefinitely. This plan would withdraw the government from the Flores Settlement Agreement, which since 1997 has stated that children cannot be held in custody for more than 20 days. This is an attempt by the Trump administration to avoid the “family separation” scandal by technically keeping families together, while still traumatizing innocent children by keeping them locked up for as long as the administration wants.

Obviously, this is a grave human rights infringement and we cannot let it happen. Call your representatives and let them know you want them to fight this tooth and nail. And remember that the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network has a variety of volunteer opportunities (discussed below) to help protect immigrants in our own state from deportation.

“Hi, my name is [NAME] and I am calling from [PLACE]. I heard that the Trump administration plans to announce a new policy that would allow them to place immigrant families in detention indefinitely. This defies the Flores Settlement Agreement and basic human decency – please do everything you can to stop this policy from being enacted. Thank you.”

EVENT: Phonebank Training w/ Sister District Puget Sound

Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM (PDT)

Seattle, WA

"Join fellow activitsts at Code Blue WA, Wallingford Indivisible and Sister District Puget Sound as we learn the ins and outs of making calls to voters with Guest Trainer, Sister District's Organizing Manager and Obama 2008 Field Organizer, Neal Morgan. We make our biggest impact on a close election from afar by TALKING with our voters and collecting data that helps canvassers on the ground have the right conversations with the right voters.

"Our training will be followed by hands-on experience making calls in support of our two Virginia legislature candidates Debra Rodman and Josh Cole. This event will jump-start phonebanking in and around Seattle for the final weeks of the campaign."
