Wednesday Event Morning
Vigilia en Solidaridad con #ElPasoFirme (Vigil in Solidarity with #ElPasoStrong)
8:30 AM to 10:00 AM, Wednesday August 7
317 17th Ave S, Seattle, Washington 98144
On Monday, we asked for you to take action on the twin national crises of White Nationalism and Gun Violence. There is no issue more important, AND there seems to be momentum, so we're going to repeat that action today.
After you stand in solidarity with El Paso, call our MOCs again about these clear dangers to our national security and public safety.
Two horrific mass shootings took place this weekend within 24 hours of each other: the first, a white-nationalist-inspired massacre at Walmart in El Paso, TX; the second, a gunman in an entertainment district in Dayton, OH.
These events did not happen in a vacuum. They reflect the ongoing crises of white-nationalist-terrorism and gun violence. Republican politicians have aided and abetted both crises. While Trump demagogues immigrants and calls for minority Congresswomen to "go back" to their supposed home countries, U.S. Senators like John Cornyn stoke fears among white Texans of being "replaced" by Hispanic immigrants. Then they block common-sense gun reforms.
Please call all of your Representatives today and ask for action and condemnation. Ask your Senators to call for an emergency session to pass a bipartisan background checks bill that has already passed the House.

Seattle says #NeverAgainIsNow
Thursday, August 8, 3:30 PM
1000 2nd Ave, Downtown Seattle
This Thursday afternoon,a group of Jews, immigrants and allies will take action at the regional ICE headquarters in downtown Seattle, to demand dignity, safety, and freedom at our borders and in our communities. White Christian nationalism is on the rise targeting people of color, immigrants, and Jews—and we will not be divided. In partnership with Jewish organizers and local front line communities, like La Resistencia and the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network, we will grind the gears of the deportation machine, through speeches, song and optional, non-violent civil disobedience.
Organizers are requesting folks of all religious affiliations to join in this powerful action. Please join us this coming Thursday at 3:30 pm at 1000 2nd Ave in downtown Seattle, and invite others to stand in solidarity with immigrants and asylum seekers.
