(Content Warning: Sexual Assault)
On Tuesday, we asked you to call our elected officials to demand Brett Kavanaugh's impeachment from the Supreme Court for his lack of fitness for a lifetime appointment to the highest court based on the credible allegations of sexual assault and sexual harrassment made against him. Real momentum started to build around our efforts, and then it fell apart.
Due to a combination of a poorly contextualized correction from the New York Times and Senate Democrats' utter fecklessness, the calls for renewed investigations and impeachment hearings for Brett Kavanugh were (hopefully only temporarily) derailed.
Here's why: the New York Times stated, without qualification, that the woman whose story is at the core of the new allegations against Kavanaugh didn't remember the alleged events. What the Times's correction did not mention was later teased out in a 'Reader Questions' article on the Times website:
"DAO: The essay included a previously unreported claim that friends pushed Mr. Kavanaugh’s penis into the hand of a female Yale student during a dorm party with drunken classmates. During the authors’ investigation, they learned that a classmate, Max Stier, witnessed the event and later reported it to senators and to the F.B.I. The authors corroborated his story with two government officials, who said they found it credible. Based on that corroboration, we felt mentioning the claim as one part of a broader essay was warranted."
Today's Action: Demand Kavanaugh's Impeachment
Call your Representative:
Rep. Pramila Jayapal: DC - 202-225-3106 Seattle - 206-674-0040
Rep. Adam Smith: DC - 202-225-8901 Renton - 425-793-5180
Call both Senators:
Senator Patty Murray: DC - 202-224-2621 Seattle - 206-553-5545
Senator Maria Cantwell: DC - 202-224-3441 Seattle - 206-220-6400
"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I am from [CITY/STATE]. I'm calling Representative/Senator [NAME] to urge them to publicly support impeachment proceedings against Justice Brett Kavanaugh immediately. While Kavanaugh should never have been confirmed, recently corroborated allegations against Kavanaugh further demonstrate that he is unfit to serve on the Supreme Court."

Event Saturday, 9/21 Protest Laura Ingraham and the Freedom Foundation
The extreme anti-union Freedom Foundation continues to push the boundaries into the fringes. They've invited white supremacist and Fox News talking head Laura Ingraham as the keynote for their annual dark-money fundraiser.
The Bellevue Hyatt has received hundreds of emails asking them to cancel Ingraham's appearance, but has taken no action. So come out to protest and tell the Freedom Foundation and the Hyatt Regency Bellevue that hate has no place in Washington State.
