The good news is that Alexander Acosta has resigned from his post as the Secretary of Labor following outcry over his role in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking case. The bad news is that, of course, the nominee that Trump has chosen to replace him, Eugene Scalia, is wrong for the position.
Senator Murray said on social media: “I opposed Eugene Scalia’s nomination to the Department of Labor in 2001 because of his hostility towards workplace protections and his positions on workplace harassment and workers’ health and safety. After spending the last 18 years defending corporations who have trampled on the rights of their workers, he is still the wrong choice and President Trump needs to choose another nominee for Secretary of Labor.” Democrats fear that as Secretary of Labor, Scalia would help Trump role back worker protections to the benefit of the big businesses that he’s spent most his life working for.
Call your Senators and let them know you oppose Scalia as Labor Secretary.
