Endeavour Capital: Respect Our Rights, Say No to Hate!

About: Endeavour Capital is a Pacific Northwest-based private equity firm with an office in downtown Seattle. One of their repeat limited partner investors is the Murdock Charitable Trust, which has given millions of dollars to extremist groups that campaign against LGBTQI rights, promote “gay conversion therapy,” provide false medical information to women seeking reproductive health services, and use aggressive and misleading tactics to undermine public employee unions. Endeavour also invests in companies like Aladdin Bail Bonds, which profits from our unjust cash bail system, and New Seasons, which called in union busting consultants to intimidate their employees in Portland.

Join Seattle Indivisible, women’s organizations, LGBTQI activists, and workers as we demand that Endeavour Capital and their portfolio companies respect our rights and stop enriching the Murdock Charitable Trust.

More information:

The Murdock Trust has donated $975,000 to the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF)
The ADF defends LGBTQ conversion therapy
The ADF fights against marriage equality
The ADF promotes anti-transgender discrimination bills nationally, including the “bathroom bills”
The ADF represents plaintiffs like Masterpiece Cakeshop - arguing for legalized discrimination against LGBTQ customers

The Murdock Trust has donated $1,547,200 to fund “pregnancy crisis centers”
These centers pose as legitimate medical or counseling clinics, but exist to prevent women from accessing abortion services
NARAL Pro-Choice America has asked for the boycott and defunding of these clinics

The Murdock Trust has donated $765,000 to the Freedom Foundation
The Freedom Foundation seeks to eliminate paid sick leave and opposes minimum wage increases for low-wage workers.
The Freedom Foundation staff publicly opposed the Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage arguing that it is a “threat to personal freedom.”
The Freedom Foundation quotes in their blog “doom-and-gloom scenarios about climate change are based on a combination of political agendas and junk science.”
The Freedom Foundation’s staff consistently attacks Planned Parenthood, calling them a “radical social organization” and a “baby killing, body-part brokering, government money consuming machine.

Phone Bank Into Alaska To Pressure Sen. Murkowski's SCOTUS Vote

WONDERING WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MAKE SURE TRUMP DOES NOT GET A SUPREME COURT PICK TO OVERTURN ABORTION RIGHTS?

This week at our regular weekly meeting, Seattle Indivisible is hosting a phone bank into Alaska trying to persuade Alaska voters to ask Sen. Murkowski (R-AK) to vote against Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court. The goal is to call Alaska voters, patch them through to Senator Murkowski’s office, and have them leave a message asking her to block any SCOTUS nominee who doesn’t support Roe v Wade.  Training will be provided!

PLEASE BRING A FULLY CHARGED LAPTOP (OR TABLET) AND CELL PHONE. The phone calls into Alaska are routed through an online service you access on your computer to your cell phone. It’s easy--training only takes 5 minutes. If you don’t have a laptop or tablet to bring, let us know and we’ll arrange for extras.

We need an approximate count of how many will be attending, so please RSVP by clicking “going” on this Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/276842793124202/?ti=icl

We need your help! Thanks.

Resist Trump Tuesday--Trump's Dangerous Love Affair with Russia

Join us for Resist Trump Tuesday this week as we take a deep dive into Mueller’s indictment of 12 Russians. What does it mean, and why does President Trump continue to label Europe and Canada as foes while embracing Vladimir Putin? Meanwhile, we are keeping our eye on all the balls and will give an update on #SaveSCOTUS efforts and the Trump administration’s unacceptably feeble efforts to reunite the thousands of immigrant children they shamefully tore away from their parents at the southern border.

Seattle Indivisible hosts a Resist Trump Tuesday rally every Tuesday in front of the Federal Building from 11:45am-12:30pm. Come listen to speakers on critical topics, and inspiring activist musicians as we #RESIST Trump and his corrupt and bigoted agenda that plays right into Putin’s hands.

Following our Resist Trump Tuesday rally, as we do every week, we will have an open forum meeting with Sen. Murray’s and Sen. Cantwell’s staff from 12:30-1:30pm. Please join us—we need your voice!

Community Summit: #FreedomForImmigrants with Gov. Inslee

This event is invite only.  The reason for the Facebook event is to keep you informed as we hope to make real progress and positive change for ALL immigrants here in Washington State.

This event has two goals.  Governor Jay Inslee has agreed to meet with our coalition. Our demands are clear.  We hope to make some news.  Stay tuned...

In addition, because the federal government has no moral compass our coalition believes it's more important than ever to to show immigrants and the rest of the country our values.

We value diversity, compassion, integrity, honesty, empathy for all and believe our nation should aspire to be something greater.

We will join with refugees, those granted asylum, and immigrants from all over the world to celebrate the values we cherish. Let's end the zero tolerance policy that has criminalized black and brown bodies and has created the crisis of family separation we have today #FreedomForImmigrants

Immigrant and refugee children need your support now more than ever. Join us as we demand immigrant families be reunited and we donate shoes to immigrant and refugee children. Washington CAN, One America, Casa Latina, joined by allies Seattle Indivisible and The Washington Bus will be standing outside the USCIS Application Support Center demanding immigrant children be reunited with their parents.

We ask that you stand in our shoes, as immigrant parents who love our children and will cross continents to keep them safe. We will be putting out thousands of donated shoes in front of the USCIS Application Support Center to make it clear how many children are being devastated by the Trump Administration's horrifying family separation policy.

We are collecting more than 2.400 children's shoes by July 2. After the rally at the USCIS, we will donate the shoes to WestSide Baby and they will distribute the shoes to immigrant and refugee children.

RESIST TRUMP TUESDAY Supports Activist Maru Mora

RESIST TRUMP TUESDAY Supports Activist Maru Mora

At this week’s Resist Trump Tuesday rally we will be joining forces with immigrant rights groups in support of activist Maru Mora Villalpando.  Maru is a fierce and tireless truth-speaker who is best known for having organized resistance at the NW Detention Center in Tacoma. Maru has put her life on the line in the fight to end detention and deportation. She has been targeted by ICE and threatened with deportation as a result of her activism and has her second deportation hearing this Tuesday.

So this Tuesday, we will meet at the usual Federal Building location around noon, at 12:10PM we will have a short rally and then march collectively down to the ICE offices/immigration court location one block north and rally with immigrant rights groups in support of Maru. We’ve done this before and especially when there is media, it makes a strong public statement when Indivisible comes marching down the street chanting to join forces with Maru and immigrant rights groups from around the region. So please be prepared to begin the rally at 12:10PM, as we will be leaving to march at 12:25PM.

Maru will go before an immigration judge for a second hearing in her deportation case as we rally outside until Maru emerges—if she is not taken into custody--and updates us on what happened in court. For more information, see our Facebook event https://www.facebook.com/events/1264501857018447/?ti=icl

While our time schedule is a little different this Tuesday so that we can support Maru, ordinarily we rally every Tuesday from 11:45AM-12:30PM, followed by our standing meeting with Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell's staff from 12:30-1:30PM. We are inspired by live music, intelligent discourse and the shared camaraderie that stems from knowing that we are standing strong, together, on the right side of history--and that we will persist. Please join us--we need your voice!

Resist Trump Tuesday-Stop Abortion Gag Rule

Resist Trump Tuesday-Stop Abortion Gag Rule

Join us this Tuesday to learn about Trump's proposed abortion "gag rule.” If adopted, these new administrative rules would deny Title X funds for ANY healthcare a woman receives at a clinic that also offers abortion services or refers patients to any other provider for abortion services. Unable to outlaw abortion, the Trump admin is seeking to financially force healthcare providers to withhold critical information and services necessary for women to meaningfully exercise their constitutionally protected right to choose.

Come hear featured speaker Hana Hartman (Planned Parenthood Votes) explain how this gag rule would also prevent millions of low-income and uninsured women from receiving routine healthcare such as birth control and cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood clinics that currently provide 41% of Title X funded women’s care across the nation.

Immediately following our rally, we will meet with Sen. Murray's and Sen. Cantwell’s staff from 12:30-1:30PM. We have requested a “deep dive” from staffers on this critical women’s health issue that Sen. Murray has referred to as part of the Trump Admin’s “health care sabotage.”

Join us every Tuesday for Seattle Indivisible’s Resist Trump Tuesday rally followed by our weekly meeting with Senate staff. All are welcome. We need your voice, your passion and your amazing energy.

State Rep. Noel Frame (D-36 Dist) will speak and answer our questions at Seattle Indivisible’s 7-9PM weekly meeting on Tuesday, May 22nd. We will have the rare opportunity to hear an inside analysis of the 2018 election with the State House and State Senate in play.

Democrats took full control of the legislature this year and were able to pass voter access laws, a revamp of police use of force laws, first in the nation net neutrality law and gun safety legislation including outlawing bump stocks. But did you know Dems only have a one vote majority? Hear from Rep. Frame on the political landscape for WA state in 2018, where progressives can make gains and how you can help.

Resist Trump Tuesday lunch meeting

This week we are doing something a little different in place of our weekly Resist Trump Tuesday Rally. We will still meet at the Federal Bldg. at 11:45AM, then we will go inside and downstairs to the cafeteria to have a sit down facilitated discussion. Sen. Murray and Cantwell's staff are unable to meet with us this Tuesday so we want to use this time to discuss reshaping our weekly meetings with senate staff. One of the staffers has suggested we consider designating certain topics we want to discuss each week and then take a deeper dive on those topics at the staff meeting. We want to discuss on Tuesday what you think about this idea, hear your ideas and what you most want to get from these staff meetings, and how you want to proceed to make our weekly meetings with senate staff the most productive for us and senate staffers Kate and Tommy.

Please join us this Tuesday and bring your thoughts and ideas.

RESIST TRUMP TUESDAY-March to DOL

We will be exercising more than just our vocal chords at our  Resist Trump Tuesday Rally on April 17th. As we do every week, we will rally at 11:45AM at the Federal Building. Then we will march to the Dept. of Licensing offices at 205 Spring Street in solidarity with our allies in the immigrant community who have organized a sign waiving protest outside DOL offices demanding the resignation/firing of DOL Director Pat Kohler.

Seattle Indivisible has joined in calling for the ousting of Dir. Kohler upon learning in January that the DOL had been regularly reporting immigrants applying for drivers licenses to ICE in violation of Gov. Inslee's Exec. Order 17-01. This serious breach of trust has lead to deportation efforts and terrified our immigrant neighbors who now fear utilizing simple services like applying for a driver's license.

Let's show up in force on April 17th to say "NO, not in Washington State--we mean it when we say immigrants are welcome here." Details of the sign waiving protest, and suggested sign messaging can be found on the Facebook Event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/193752467898485??ti=ia

Seattle March For Our Lives

Come join this high school student led march to take a stand against gun violence, and the failure of adult politicians to take meaningful action to stop it. The plan to march on Seattle in the wake of yet another school shooting in Florida last month was the idea of two teenagers, one from Ballard High School and one from Tahoma High School. Rhiannon and Emilia spoke at our Seattle Indivisible rally earlier this month and said #NeverAgain.

Come support these young leaders in a cause they should not have been forced to shoulder. Their voices are clear and authentic, and we are listening. Seattle Indivisible is helping these teens in their efforts to register teen voters this weekend (and training them to register voter). Please come out and support this meaningful effort, and march from Cal Anderson Park to Seattle Center.

Because the Senate is in recess, the staffers will NOT be available for office hours following this week's rally. Next week (2/27), office hours will resume as usual.

Week in and week out, we need each and every one of you. Please come join us!
