RESIST TRUMP TUESDAY-March to DOL

We will be exercising more than just our vocal chords at our  Resist Trump Tuesday Rally on April 17th. As we do every week, we will rally at 11:45AM at the Federal Building. Then we will march to the Dept. of Licensing offices at 205 Spring Street in solidarity with our allies in the immigrant community who have organized a sign waiving protest outside DOL offices demanding the resignation/firing of DOL Director Pat Kohler.

Seattle Indivisible has joined in calling for the ousting of Dir. Kohler upon learning in January that the DOL had been regularly reporting immigrants applying for drivers licenses to ICE in violation of Gov. Inslee's Exec. Order 17-01. This serious breach of trust has lead to deportation efforts and terrified our immigrant neighbors who now fear utilizing simple services like applying for a driver's license.

Let's show up in force on April 17th to say "NO, not in Washington State--we mean it when we say immigrants are welcome here." Details of the sign waiving protest, and suggested sign messaging can be found on the Facebook Event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/193752467898485??ti=ia

Seattle March For Our Lives

Come join this high school student led march to take a stand against gun violence, and the failure of adult politicians to take meaningful action to stop it. The plan to march on Seattle in the wake of yet another school shooting in Florida last month was the idea of two teenagers, one from Ballard High School and one from Tahoma High School. Rhiannon and Emilia spoke at our Seattle Indivisible rally earlier this month and said #NeverAgain.

Come support these young leaders in a cause they should not have been forced to shoulder. Their voices are clear and authentic, and we are listening. Seattle Indivisible is helping these teens in their efforts to register teen voters this weekend (and training them to register voter). Please come out and support this meaningful effort, and march from Cal Anderson Park to Seattle Center.

DON’T MISS THIS GUEST SPEAKER AT SEATTLE INDIVISIBLE’S 3/6 TUESDAY NIGHT MEETING

Our featured speaker at our Tuesday night meeting on 3/6 (7-9PM) will be Marquese Averett. For those of you who didn’t get to hear Marquese speak at one of our rallies last year or elsewhere, trust us, you are in for an energizing treat.

Marquese is an activist by passion and an organizer by training. Born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, he is no stranger of taking on tough issues. He has worked on many campaigns (from electoral to issue based) all across the country. He is now a senior organizer for the S. King County section of FUSE Washington, the largest progressive organization in Washington State.

FUSE has been doing this progressive work for 10 years, and we have a lot to learn from Marquese and his comrades. Please come, bring a friend, and join in the discussion.

This week we are pleased to have as our featured speaker, Nina Martinez from the Latino Civic Alliance to talk about the Washington State Dept. of Licensing's shameful disclosure of personal information to ICE and what changes the Alliance and a large coalition of other immigrant rights organizations are asking to be made at DOL so that this never happens again.

Following the rally, we will proceed inside the Federal Building to meet with Senators Murray and Cantwell staffers from 12:30-1:30PM. Please let them know what you're concerned about.

Week in and week out, we need each and every one of you. Please come join us!

Seattle Indivisible, other Resist groups and allies are standing up for keeping our Washington State water clean. Trump's infrastructure scam would open the floodgates to private management of our waterways, and strip environmental protections. Protect our public resources from profit-making corporations.

As always, we will meet with Senate staff at 12.30pm immediately after the rally.

Resist Trump Tuesday Rally at Federal Building

  • Henry M. Jackson Federal Building (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Come join us at the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building every Tuesday at 11:45am for our Resist Trump Tuesday Rally, with speakers and live music, followed by a 12:30PM meeting with Senator Murray and Cantwell's staff. This week, we will be discussing the Disability Integration Act (SB 910), which would require community based services to be offered to those with disabilities before institutionalization. Our featured speaker will be Janine Bertram, one of the national founding mothers of ADAPT. Whether or not you've heard of ADAPT, we've all seen them in action. It was ADAPT members we saw in the national news last year chaining their wheelchairs to MoCs' office furniture to stop the ACA repeal. We are honored to have Janine Bertram explain this important bill to us, and why ADAPT wants our senators to support SB 910.

Following our discussion on SB 910, Julie Negrin and Alycia Ramirez will give us an update on the DACA/Dreamer stalemate.  This issue has renewed intensity as Dreamers' lives are hanging in the balance with the March 5th end to the DACA program looming, no agreement on a DACA fix and government funding running out again on February 8th. Come join us for this jam-packed rally, followed by a meeting with Senators Murray and Cantwell's staff from 12:30-1:30PM.

LAST Resist Trump Tuesday Rally of 2017!

rally.jpg

Please join us for our last Resist Trump Tuesday rally of 2017.

Congress will likely vote on the tax bill, and the two-week stopgap for government funding will end with no clean DREAM Act in sight. It's going to be wild, crazy, and probably horrific. So we need you to be there!

As always, we will enter the Federal Building at 12:30pm for office hours with the Senate staffers. There will be no office hours on Dec. 26th, so Dec. 19th is our last chance to make our voices heard. Let's close out the year in a show of solidarity - in these turbulent times, we've stood strong together, and that strength will carry us through to 2018 and beyond.

Are you angry? We're angry! We're angry at the Trump Tax Scam, we're angry that Trump shamelessly backed child molester Roy Moore for Alabama's Senate seat, and we're angry that there's been a two-week budget extension but still no clean DREAM act. The FCC will vote to end Net Neutrality on Thursday the 14th, and we need an avalanche of calls to help save it. In other words, we need YOU to keep the pressure on our Senators to do the right thing.

Please join us at the Federal Building for the second-to-last Resist Trump Tuesday rally of the year. As always, we will enter the building at 12:30pm for office hours with Senate staff.

De-Escalate Washington's I-940 Ballot Initiative is hitting the homestretch, with only a few weeks left. As always, we will have ballot sheets to hand out. Any and all signatures matter at this juncture - merely limping over the finish line means all signatures will be scrutinized and challenged, whereas wining big leaves no doubt of victory.

Stop the Trump Tax Scam

  • Henry M. Jackson Federal Building (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join with dozens of Indivisible and grass roots organizations around the region this Monday--Nov. 27th at 11AM--at the Federal Building (915 2nd Ave., Seattle) to protest the Trump Tax Scam that we expect the Senate to vote on during this last week in November. We need to bring the NOISE to this issue, like we did to GOP efforts to destroy the ACA. This is part of a nationwide protest on Monday in which we are all saying NO, we will not sacrifice healthcare, housing, infrastructure, the environment, middle class America and the poor for more tax cuts for billionaires and large corporations. Now is the time to STAND UP and LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.

Wear something orange if you can (eg, hat, scarf, gloves). Bring signs urging the defeat of this disastrous tax scam. And we are collecting personal stories about how this tax scam will impact you, your family or your business and will deliver those stories to Senators Murray and Cantwell. So email your stories in advance to TaxScamOpposition@gmail.com.

In Seattle, we plan to circle the entire Federal Building. We will listen to informed speakers, live music and hear stories of how everyday people will be personally impacted if this bill passes in Congress. This is crunch time people. If you can only make one more rally before the end of the year, make it this one!

Participating organizations include: Seattle Indivisible, Not One Penny campaign, Tax March Seattle, Tax March National, Fuse Washington, Indivisible Eastside, Indivisible North Seattle, Indivisible Bainbridge, Indivisible Whidbey, Indivisible Washington's 8th District, Indivisible Skagit, Indivisible Kirkland Kenmore, Indivisible Whidbey, Mukilteo Indivisible, Save the Children Action Network, Indivisible Vashon, SnoCo Indivisible
