Solidarity Date at NW Detention Center in Tacoma

  • NW Detention Center 1623 East J Street Tacoma, WA, 98421 United States (map)

For Day Two of our Week of Action, on Sunday, July 1, 2018 Seattle Indivisible is joining the Day of Solidarity/protest at the detention center in Tacoma where 1575 immigrants are imprisoned in a facility run by a contracted private company while they await their deportation hearings. The NWDC Resistance/Resistencia NWDC leads these protests every month. As part of Seattle Indivisible's Week of Action on immigrant rights (June 30-July 7), we ask our membership to come to the NW Detention Center in Tacoma, bring signs, and join in this Day of Solidarity led by our ally.

Seattle Indivisible, in its role as a coalition member of "Families Belong Together--WA" is participating in a week of activism to protest the Trump administration's policies both at our southern border and within our own communities in Washington state. This week of action is led by immigrants' rights organizations like Casa Latina--Mujeres Sin Fronteras, the Washington Dream Coalition, the WA Immigrant Solidarity Network, Colectiva Legal del Pueblo, the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, partnering with allies like One America, Seattle Indivisible, Black Lives Matter King Co., Seattle Womxn Marching Forward (Womxn's March Seattle) and MoveOn.
